Become a PII Intern

The Peace Islands Institute (PII) Internship Program aims to attract dedicated and talented students from diverse academic backgrounds to contribute to the organization’s mission of fostering dialogue, understanding, and peacebuilding initiatives. Through this program, interns will have the opportunity to engage in projects aligned with the strategic goals of the Institute and to support various operational functions. Interns will get a certificate signed by a congressman in NJ.  

The PII welcomes internship applications on a rolling basis for placements during the Fall, Spring, or Summer terms. We encourage students enrolled in accredited high school programs, undergraduate studies, or recent graduates to apply. Selected interns will have the opportunity to work remotely or in a hybrid format. 

Who can apply?

We welcome students and young professionals who are passionate about community engagement, interfaith dialogue, and nonprofit work. Applicants should have a willingness to learn, collaborate, and contribute meaningfully to our mission.

Internships are open to students who:

  • Are enrolled in a full-time degree program or are recent graduates.
  • Are available to work a minimum of 120 hours in total (over three months).
  • Are fluent in English; proficiency in another language is a plus.
  • Are passionate about three working areas of PII: Social Affairs, Educational Affairs, and Interfaith Affairs.
  • Possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Have the ability to work in a multicultural and international team environment.
  • Can work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Have the ability to multitask and meet deadlines efficiently and effectively.
  • Possesses solid IT skills, such as video editing, and photography, proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, and social media content management.

Peace Islands Institute offers internship positions in Digital Media and Marketing, Office Administration, Information Technology, and Dialogue Activities. 1. Digital Media and Marketing Internship

Responsibilities:

  • Design and create flyers, graphics, and promotional content for social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube, before and after events.
  • Develop and implement social media campaigns to engage audiences and promote Peace Islands Institute’s mission.
  • Manage and update social media accounts with consistent, high-quality content.
  • Monitor and analyze social media performance to improve outreach and engagement strategies

What You’ll Gain:

  • Mastery of tools such as Canva, Google Docs, and other digital platforms.
  • Portfolio-worthy projects and campaigns that demonstrate your creativity and technical skills.

2. Office Administration Internship

Responsibilities:

  • Provide critical support in event planning and coordination, including logistics, outreach, and on-site execution of community events.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis on relevant topics related to interfaith dialogue, education, and community engagement.
  • Assist in day-to-day administrative tasks, such as managing schedules, organizing materials, and maintaining documentation.

3. Information Technology Internship

Responsibilities:

  • Write and edit engaging content for Peace Islands Institute’s website and various publications to highlight our mission and programs.
  • Create and edit high-quality videos for social media and event promotions.
  • Utilize software tools like Asana, Canva, and Google Docs to manage projects and improve team collaboration.

What You’ll Gain:

  • Skills in web content management and video editing.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard tools and platforms.
  • Opportunities to contribute to projects that drive positive community impact.


4. Dialogue Activities Internship

Responsibilities:

  • Support the planning and execution of dialogue activities in one of the most diverse communities in the United States.
  • Collaborate with interfaith leaders, state officials, and representatives from governmental and non-governmental organizations to promote understanding and unity.
  • Assist in organizing and hosting dialogue events, including interfaith dinners, panel discussions, and community gatherings.

What You’ll Gain:

  • Firsthand experience in dialogue facilitation and community engagement.
  • The opportunity to network with leaders and organizations dedicated to fostering peace and mutual respect.
  • A deeper understanding of interfaith relations and the role of dialogue in building harmonious societies.
