Become a PII Intern

The Peace Islands Institute (PII) Internship Program aims to attract dedicated and talented students from diverse academic backgrounds to contribute to the organization’s mission of fostering dialogue, understanding, and peacebuilding initiatives. Through this program, interns will have the opportunity to engage in projects aligned with the strategic goals of the Institute and to support various operational functions. Interns will get a certificate signed by a congressman in NJ.  

The PII welcomes internship applications on a rolling basis for placements during the Fall, Spring, or Summer terms. We encourage students enrolled in accredited high school programs, undergraduate studies, or recent graduates to apply. Selected interns will have the opportunity to work remotely or in a hybrid format. 

Who can apply?

Internships are open to students who:

  • Are enrolled in a full-time degree program or are recent graduates.
  • Are available to work a minimum of 120 hours in total (over three months).
  • Are fluent in English; proficiency in another language is a plus.
  • Are passionate about three working areas of PII: Social Affairs, Educational Affairs, and Interfaith Affairs.
  • Possess excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Have the ability to work in a multicultural and international team environment.
  • Can work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Have the ability to multitask and meet deadlines efficiently and effectively.
  • Possesses solid IT skills, such as video editing, and photography, proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, and social media content management.

Successful candidates will gain experience in the following areas: 

  • Digital Media and Marketing:
    • Creating content, and flyers for social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter,Instagram, and Youtube) before and after events
    • Developing and executing social media campaigns
  • Supporting Office Administration:
    • Assisting in event planning and coordination
    • Conducting research and analysis on various topics related to our mission
  • Information Technology:
    • Writing and editing content for our website and publications
    • Creating and editing video
    • To use different softwares such as Asana, Canva, Google docs. 
  • Dialogue activities in the most diverse community in the United States 
    • Dialogue events with various interfaith leaders, state officials, governmental and non-governmental organizations.
