Peace Islands Institute, together Respect Institute, is proud to co-organize the International Conference on Fethullah Gülen’s Thought and Practice in New Jersey.

This distinguished gathering will bring together leading scholars, thought leaders, and practitioners from around the world to engage critically with the intellectual legacy of Fethullah Gülen and the Hizmet Movement, exploring their impact on education, interfaith dialogue, peacebuilding, and identity formation in today’s pluralistic society.

Conference Themes

Participants will examine Gülen’s contributions to:

  • Education and civic engagement

  • Interfaith dialogue and peacebuilding

  • Muslim identity in the 21st century

  • Women’s leadership and agency

  • Science and spirituality in the modern world

Keynote Speakers

  • Dr. Scott C. Alexander – Catholic Theological Union

  • Dr. Sophia Pandya – California State University, Long Beach

  • Rev. Dr. Thomas Michel, S.J. – Georgetown University

Alongside these keynote addresses, the conference will feature 30+ speakers across 10 panels, making it a cornerstone event for scholars and community leaders committed to dialogue, peace, and social cohesion.
