Peace Islands Institute New Jersey (“Peace Islands Institute,” “PII,” “we,” “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through peaceislands.org, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Peace Islands Institute New Jersey is a nonprofit organization that promotes peace, dialogue and friendship through educational, social and interfaith programs.

Information we collect
Information you give us. When you fill out a form on our website, we collect what you enter. This includes:
- Newsletter sign-up and contact forms: your name, email address, and, if you choose, your organization, title, mailing address and message.
- Volunteer, internship, sponsorship and partnership applications: these forms are hosted by Jotform. The information you submit is collected and stored by Jotform on our behalf and handled under Jotform’s privacy policy.
- Event registrations: the details requested on the registration form, such as your name, email address and number of guests.
- Donations: online donations are processed by PayPal. We receive your name, email address and donation amount, but we never see or store your card or bank details. See PayPal’s privacy statement.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our site and the services it uses collect standard technical information, such as your browser type, device, pages visited, the site that referred you, and an approximate location based on your IP address. We use website statistics tools (such as Jetpack Stats and Google tools connected through Site Kit) to understand, in aggregate, how visitors use the site.

- To send our newsletter and event news, if you signed up for them
- To process volunteer, internship, sponsorship and partnership applications
- To manage event registrations and donations, including sending receipts
- To keep the website secure, prevent spam, and improve our programs and website
Newsletter and emails
If you sign up for our newsletter, your name and email address are added to our mailing list, which is managed by our email service provider (Constant Contact). You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email, or by emailing infonj@peaceislands.org.
Cookies and embedded content
Our website uses cookies, small files stored in your browser, to keep the site working, remember preferences and measure visits. Some pages include content from other websites, such as YouTube videos, Google Maps and social media links. These sites may collect data about you, use cookies and track your interaction with the embedded content in the same way as if you had visited them directly. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some parts of the site may not work as intended without them.
How we share information
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only:
- with service providers that help us run the website and our programs (for example, our web host, form, email, payment and analytics providers), only as needed to provide their services;
- when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our organization, participants or others.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described above, or as required for our records and legal obligations. You can ask us to delete your information at any time (see below).
Your choices and rights
You may ask us to show you, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop sending you emails. To make a request, email infonj@peaceislands.org. We will respond within a reasonable time.
Children’s privacy
Our website is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. Youth program registrations are completed by a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards, including an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, to protect the information you share with us. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Links to other websites
Our site links to other websites, such as partner organizations and social media. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
