Conference on Fethullah Gülen’s Thought & Practice Explores Education, Dialogue & Identity at Drew University

From October 3–5, 2025, Respect Graduate School & Peace Islands Institute hosted an international conference titled “Fethullah Gülen’s Thought and Practice: Education, Dialogue, Peacebuilding, and Identity Formation”, in collaboration with Drew University in New Jersey.

Over the course of three days, scholars, thought leaders, and practitioners from around the world convened to examine topics such as:

  • The role of education in shaping ethical leadership and civic engagement

  • Interfaith dialogue as a pathway to peace and understanding

  • The spiritual and philosophical foundations of Gülen’s teachings

  • The position and agency of women’s leadership in the Hizmet Movement

  • The intersection of science, spirituality, and identity in today’s pluralistic society

Opening remarks were delivered by Drew University President Hilary L. Link, Jonathan Golden (Director of the Center for Religion, Culture & Conflict), along with leaders from Respect Graduate School and Peace Islands Institute.

Keynote lectures, panel discussions, and breakout sessions explored how Gülen’s intellectual legacy continues to inspire peacebuilding, interfaith engagement, and social cohesion in diverse communities.
