Youth Peace Network – Volunteer Event

On Sunday, January 26, 2025, Peace Islands Institute, in collaboration with the First Congregational Church of Montclair and Toni’s Kitchen , hosted an inspiring interfaith youth event titled “Let’s Volunteer Together.” This meaningful gathering brought Muslim and Christian youth together for an afternoon of unity, service, and connection.
The event began with a joint meal at the First Congregational Church, where participants shared lunch, exchanged stories, and built friendships across faiths. Following the meal, the group walked to Toni’s Kitchen, a local soup kitchen, to volunteer and make a positive impact on their community.
At Toni’s Kitchen, the youth divided into teams to accomplish various tasks, including loading a car for a community market, sorting and preparing donations for pickup, packaging bread for distribution, and organizing supplies. Their energy, teamwork, and dedication impressed the staff, who praised their hard work and enthusiasm.
This event highlighted the power of collaboration and mutual understanding. It showcased how young people from different faiths can come together to support their local communities and send a strong message of peace, unity, and shared purpose.
Peace Islands Institute extends its heartfelt gratitude to all the participants, Toni’s Kitchen, and the First Congregational Church of Montclair for their support and partnership in making this event a success. Together, we are building bridges of friendship and creating a harmonious future for all.
