The 2nd Annual Paterson City of Water Day!

City of Water Day Clean-Up Event!

On July 16th, 2022, between 8AM -1AM, the Peace Island Institute took part in the Passaic River and Westside Park environmental clean-up event arranged as part of the 2nd Annual of Paterson, City of Water Day. With many volunteers, we gathered to clean up around the Passaic River for a better, healthy, and attainable environment. 

Our volunteers and many others from co-sponsored organizations like Green Team, Passaic River Coalition, New Jersey Clean Communities, Waterfront Alliance, NJ/NY Harbor & Estuary Program, and City of Water, worked together to improve the quality of our environments.

The environmental improvement event also attracted great interest. Commissioners Pat Lepore and Terry Duffy, and Passaic County Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik attended this event. Furthermore, after the clean-up followed activities such as hands-on art, fishing, resources for flooding, and information on how the waterway impacts Paterson. 

We had the honor to join this event with many people to make our environment a better place!
