The grant comes from New Jersey’s fiscal year 2027 State budget. The FY2027 Appropriations Act (P.L.2026, c.27, approved June 30, 2026) includes $50,000 for Peace Islands Institute NJ among the Department of Community Affairs’ Community Resources grants. On August 6, 2026, Senator Timberlake’s office announced the allocation as part of more than $3 million she secured during the FY2027 budget cycle, describing it as support for the Institute’s community outreach programs promoting peace, respect and cross-cultural understanding.

Peace Islands Institute thanks Senator Timberlake for her support of its programs. Senator Timberlake also honored Executive Director Adam Bulent Ozdemir with a 2022 Trailblazer Award while serving in the General Assembly.
