13th Annual Public Safety Appreciation Dinner: Celebrating Heroes and Building Bridges of Peace

At Peace Islands Institute (PII), we believe in the transformative power of recognition and gratitude. Our Public Safety Appreciation Dinner, held annually, celebrates those who dedicate their lives to protecting and serving the community. This year, the 13th Annual Public Safety Awards Dinner was a remarkable evening filled with inspiring moments, heartfelt speeches, and well-deserved recognition.
The event brought together leaders from law enforcement, community organizations, and public safety professionals to foster meaningful dialogue and cooperation for a safer, stronger New Jersey. Held in 2025, the evening exemplified the values of collaboration, mutual understanding, and breaking barriers in public safety.
A Night of Honor and Appreciation
The evening began with a reception where guests had the chance to network and connect. The Passaic County Police and Fire Pipes and Drums set the tone with a grand entrance, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem beautifully performed by Becky Serico from the Bergen Performing Arts School. A solemn moment of silence for fallen public heroes reminded everyone of the sacrifices made in the line of duty.
Peace Islands Institute Executive Director Adam Bulent Ozdemir welcomed the attendees, emphasizing the Institute’s mission of fostering dialogue, collaboration, and understanding.
“By building bridges of peace and cooperation, we can create a more secure and inclusive society for all,” said Ozdemir in his opening remarks.
